How paying for Counseling Works.

Fees

How paying for Counseling Works.

During your first session in our clinic your counselor will do an evaluation and assessment with you.

Session Fee
First session (evaluation and assessment) $230
Every session thereafter $215
Group counseling, each group session $65
90 minute session Session rate + 50% of the session rate (a $200 session is $300 for 90 mins)
Crisis intervention $350 per hour, billed by the minute

If you and your counselor agree to 90 minute session(s) insurance will likely only partially cover this time if you are coming as a family or couple. On the other hand if you come as an individual it likely will. Any portion that insurance does not cover will be added to your copay or coinsurance.

Insurance?

Yes, we accept insurance. Currently, we accept coverage from the following providers: Pacific Source, Providence, Blue Cross, Moda, Cigna, Aetna and One EAP (Canopy). Some of our counselors also accept United Health insurance. Insurance requires that we provide you with a mental health diagnosis before they will cover your counseling sessions. They want to ensure that you have a genuine mental health condition that requires assistance. Additionally, insurance will not cover your sessions if you fail to attend for any reason. Therefore, the regular clinic rate for the session will be billed to you. Occasionally, some or all of this bill may be waived if you provide insufficient notice or fail to attend your appointment.

When to Pay

All fees will be payable at the beginning of each session. No exceptions unless they are agreed upon in advance.

How to Pay

Payment for services will usually be processed directly through our Electronic Health Record software. You will need to have entered a credit card. You may also enter an HSA card in addition. However, occasionally, you may utilize the provided link to pay via PayPal. In such cases, please inform your practitioner or our office support staff of your payment transaction.

Emergency?

Although we are rarely available for crisis counseling, if the opportunity arises and we are called upon to intervene in a crisis with you, the cost is $350 per hour, which will be billed by the minute. Therefore, 60 minutes will equate to $350.

Cancelation Policy

A 24-hour notice must be provided for the cancellation of any appointment made via voicemail or text message. Failure to do so will result in the client being responsible for the full payment. Email does not constitute a valid form of cancellation. In certain circumstances, a partial or full waiver of the bill may be granted based on the reason for cancellation.

Pay by Check

If a check payment is returned due to insufficient funds, the client will be liable for all non-sufficient funds (NSF) charges and associated penalty fees.

Additional Assessment?

Clients may be required to undergo testing. The cost of the assessment will be discussed in advance. We administer certain tests, and other testing may be referred to a psychologist or psychiatrist.

Need Additional Assistance?

“I’m not insured, and I genuinely believe this counselor can help me, but the clinic’s rate is too high for me to afford. Is there any alternative option available?”

  • YES! The counselor’s each have an individualized cash pay rate that is based on their experience and specialty. This is denoted by the heading next to their picture on the website of “counselor 1 or 2, etc.”

“That rate is quite high. I recently faced financial difficulties. Are there other options available?”

  • Possibly. Each counselor has a “hardship scale” that they can use if you and they feel it is appropriate AND you both agree to it. That is left up to the counselor. For guidance the scales are located below according to the counselor type i.e. 1,2,3,etc.
  • Also! Our interns have a low sliding fee scale. So if you’re up for seeing one of our intentionally selected Pre-master’s interns you could definitely get good counseling with a lower financial impact. However, interns cannot take insurance yet.
