Excited. Persistent. Results oriented and good sense of humor. That’s me! You’re not alone when you say, “I really don’t want to get out of bed today, just a little while longer,” as you pull the covers over your head. Today feels gray, you feel overwhelmed, even numb and the nagging “duties” of the day pull at your attention, one after another.
You want to scream and hide under a rock to make it all go away for a minute, but you open your eyes to see the list of “should’s” just get longer. And worse yet, you feel alone in all of it. It feels like quicksand is in your throat, as you search franticly for the words to say to explain what is happening inside you, which feels impossible to get out and even if you did, you feel no one would get it, and they wouldn’t know how to help, if they even care. And more, this feels like yesterday. It’s been feeling like this for as long as you can remember. You can’t remember what it was like when you felt content, calm, free and open. What it was like when you were non-reactive, not touchy or easily annoyed and purposefully avoided everyone.
Well hey, my name is Danielle and I’m here to offer my support. I am a teen or adolescent counselor. I am a couples counselor. I am an individual therapist. I can provide online counseling. I can provide EMDR as an EMDR therapist. I like to work with IFS or internal Family systems as well. I am an ADHD counselor and therapist. I’m committed to helping youth, adults, couples, and families learn how to build healthier relationships with themselves and others.
My work focuses on targeting communication patterns, harmful behaviors, destructive habits, and limiting beliefs. I believe we are hurt in relationships, and we are healed in relationships. I believe in taking a collaborative and radical acceptance approach to helping clients identify and reach their goals as I pull from multiple therapeutic perspectives such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Theory, Motivational Interviewing, and Strength-Based Solution Focused Therapy with Positive Psychology components.
I am an Oregonian, born and raised. Traveled a bit after getting married and having kids but returned to Tigard to be closer to family. I received my undergraduate degree in Community Health Education, where my formal learning about the mind, body, soul, community connection began.
After some personal growth experiences, I graduated from Multnomah University with my master’s in counseling, continuing my pursuit of understanding why we do what we do and our interconnection with the world around us. After graduate school, I was lucky to start my counseling experience working with youth and their families, supporting them creating more safety, stability, and greater peace within themselves and their relationships. This is what I hope to do for you as well.
