Areas of Experience: Working with children, individuals and family.

Kind, Diligent and Courageous! My name is Kei Kurosawa, and I am here to provide a safe space where children, teens, and women can process their own unique story and walk into a space where understanding meets transformation. As a counselor, I can offer support in the unique emotional journeys of children, teens, and women. I am committed to guiding each of my clients through the process of healing and growth. I can help provide a safe space to help navigate emotions, life’s challenges, and support on the confusing, yet rewarding journey to emotional awareness, growth, and healing.

I have a bachelor’s degree in child, Youth, and Family Studies from Portland State University and Master’s in counseling from Multnomah University. My educational background helps me to understand the complex journey of being human, the struggle to navigate experience, emotions, relationships, and more while also trying to live life to the fullest. During my educational journey, I was also given the opportunity to work primarily with children, teens, and college students through the struggles of life, while also navigating difficult feelings rooted in childhood trauma, anxiety, depression, confusion, and difficult relationships. Being raised in a Japanese American household and understanding the struggles that this entails, I also specialize in working with individuals that want to incorporate their cultural identity, background, and experiences into their counseling journey.

I am a Licensed Professional Child therapist. I am a play therapist. I provide teen counseling. In some cases I can provide online therapy sessions.

When working with children, I offer a therapeutic approach that is grounded in the power of play therapy, creating a safe and nurturing environment where children can express themselves and explore their feelings freely. I value play for children because I believe that children can better process difficult situations and emotions when they are given a space atmosphere, healthy connections, and freedom to have their own voice.

When working with teens and women, I use a trauma-informed, narrative approach while also utilizing a variety of interventions and modalities dependent on your needs. In using this narrative

approach, I can offer space for you to process your own story of who you are and work on re-writing parts of your story that are hurtful and binding.

In this path to healing, my goal is to foster emotional well-being, build resilience, and cultivate a sense of empowerment and voice while working towards change and growth
