A Space That's Yours.

Counseling for Individuals

Individual Counseling: Clear Direction in a Safe Place.

A forest path leading to a single canoe resting on the shore of a calm lake

Sometimes you need a space that’s just yours. Individual counseling is one-on-one time with a counselor, focused on what you want to work on, at a pace that feels safe.

Maybe something has been building for a while. Maybe life handed you something you didn’t see coming. Either way, you don’t have to sort it out alone.

  • One-on-one time that’s all about you.
  • A counselor who fits you and your goals.
  • A clear direction, not just talking in circles.

What People Come In For.

People see us for all kinds of reasons. Some of the most common are:

  • Anxiety and worry
  • Depression, or feeling stuck and down
  • Grief and loss
  • Trauma
  • Relationship concerns and communication
  • Co-dependency
  • Coping with stress and big life changes

If what you’re facing isn’t on this list, reach out anyway. We’ll help you figure out whether we’re the right fit, and point you in a good direction if we’re not.

New to Counseling? Start Here.

If you’ve never been to counseling, or you had an experience that didn’t help, you’re in good company. A lot of the people we see feel the same way at first.

We believe about 85% of a successful counseling process is the relationship with your counselor, not degrees or knowledge. That’s why fit matters so much to us. You’ll usually know whether it’s a good fit within three sessions, and if it isn’t, just tell us. We’ll talk through your options together.

Who You’ll See.

Every one of our counselors works with individuals, so you can pick the person who feels like the best fit for you. Meet our counselors to read their bios and areas of experience.

Teens Count Too.

Teens often come in on their own, but counseling for them works a little differently, especially around parents and privacy. Visit our page on Counseling for Adolescents and Children to learn more.

What To Expect.

At Life Encounter Counseling, we try to be as creative as possible within ethical parameters to get you the help you need and are asking for.

Your first session is an evaluation and assessment. Your counselor gets to know you, hears what brought you in, and works with you on a plan with a clear direction.

Questions about cost or insurance? Our Fees page has the details, including lower-cost options with our interns.
